Dave Moreno, the current drummer of Puddle of Mudd, was also behind the kit on Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson’s solo album Tyranny of Souls, released in 2005. Moreno briefly joined Puddle of Mudd the same year but parted ways soon. He rejoined Puddle of Mudd in 2014, replacing Shannon Boone.

American alternative rock outfit Puddle of Mudd are all set to tour India this September and October. The band’s India tour, brought in association with VH1 India, will see the band play at Hard Rock Cafes in 5 cities – Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi. The band also play a one-off gig in Sri Lanka on September 26 before touching Indian shores.

The band first burst on to the rock scene way back in 2001 with their major label debut Come Clean, which sold over five million copies worldwide. The album was led by several hits, including the debut single Control. The second single Blurry was the band’s most successful single, reaching No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart. It also hit No. 1 on Billboard Mainstream Rock and Billboard Alternative Rock charts. The third single Drift & Die spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The fourth single, She Hates Me also reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, as well as No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other hits by the band include Away from Me and Psycho, the latter being Billboard’s No. 1 Mainstream Rock Song of 2008.

The current lineup of the band includes vocalist and founding member Wes Scantlin, Matt Fuller on lead guitars, Michael John Adams on bass and Dave Moreno on drums.

This is one of those rare occasions when Indian promoters have stayed good to their word. The Puddle of Mudd tour was originally scheduled for June and July this year. However the tour was cancelled due to ”unforeseen circumstances”. The promoters had promised that the tour would be rescheduled and promised to bring the band back. True to their word, they have.

For those still in two minds, quite understandably so, and seeking official confirmation, the dates have also been updated in the “Shows” section on the official Puddle of Mudd website.

The opening acts for the Mumbai and Bengaluru shows will be The Other People and Best Kept Secret respectively. As of now, no opening acts have been announced for the Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad shows.

Here are the tour dates:

Hard Rock Cafe, Worli (Mumbai) on 29th September (Opening Act: The Other People)
Hard Rock Cafe, Pune on 30th September
Hard Rock Cafe, Bengaluru on 1st October (Opening Act: Best Kept Secret)
Hard Rock Cafe, Hyderabad on 3rd October
Hard Rock Cafe, Delhi on 4th October

“The willow it weeps today
A breeze from the distance is calling your name
Unfurl your black wings and wait
Across the horizon it’s coming to sweep you away
It’s coming to sweep you away.”

Finnish rockers Poets of the Fall will soon grace Indian shores in support of their latest album “Temple of Thought.” The band will play five Indian cities including Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad & Kolkata this August, soon after the August 3rd  release of their new album here in India. This tour marks the band’s third visit to the country following their headlining appearances at Synchronicity, IIT Kanpur in 2007 and the Great Indian Octoberfest, Bengaluru in 2011.

Their latest album, the band’s fifth, was released in March 2012 in Europe and entered the Finnish charts at #3. The band have two platinum and two gold certified albums to their credit in their native Finland and have sold more than 100,000 albums worldwide. Their first four albums debuted atop Finnish charts, an astounding feat for a rock band.

This is the second time EMI Music India is bringing an international alternative rock band for a multi-city tour in support of a new release. 2010 witnessed the American rockers Saving Abel perform in support of their self-titled debut.

During the recording of Nirvana’s magnum opus, “Nevermind,” drummer Dave Grohl recorded several songs on a Yamaha snare drum borrowed from Butch Vig. The same snare was used by the Smashing Pumpkins during the recording of “Gish,” another alternative rock record released in 1991. Both records were produced by the now legendary producer, Butch Vig.

Butch Vig himself plays drums in the rock band Garbage, who achieved their share of success in the mid-to-late nineties.
