During the recording of Nirvana’s magnum opus, “Nevermind,” drummer Dave Grohl recorded several songs on a Yamaha snare drum borrowed from Butch Vig. The same snare was used by the Smashing Pumpkins during the recording of “Gish,” another alternative rock record released in 1991. Both records were produced by the now legendary producer, Butch Vig.
Butch Vig himself plays drums in the rock band Garbage, who achieved their share of success in the mid-to-late nineties.
On September 24, 1991, exactly twenty years ago, the greatest rock album of all time was released. Here’s to the album that gave voice to an entire generation, the album that changed the course of modern music, and most importantly, the album that literally changed my life. Ladies and gentlemen, raise a toast to Nirvana’s Nevermind!
“I found it hard,
it was hard to find,
well, whatever, nevermind!”
