So, the moment all Indian metalheads have been waiting for is finally here. 2011 marks Metallica celebrating 30 years of its existence and it has been an equally long wait for Indian fans. But finally, a Metallica concert in India seems like a distinct possibility.
The rumor that had been circulating for quite some time now, has turned out to be so much more this time around. The following is an excerpt from the Inland Empire Weekly cover story featuring Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo:
“We are going to play India in October. That should be interesting, playing a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we’d [go] to play. It’s an honor for all of us that we get to be a part of that whole music scene as a metal band sharing our music with fans in India at this incredible concert!”
These are the words of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. Need I say more? We just need to wait for an official confirmation from the Metallica camp now. And then, let the celebrations begin. Because remember, it doesn’t get bigger than this \nn/
ps. For the uninitiated:
Metallica has released nine studio albums, has won nine Grammy Awards, and has had five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200, making Metallica the first band to do so. The band has sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide and as of January 2011, Metallica is the fourth best-selling music artist since the SoundScan era began tracking sales on May 25, 1991, selling a total of 52,672,000 albums in the United States alone.
