Vocalist Emperor Magus Caligula (Magnus “Masse” Broberg) of Swedish black metal band DARK FUNERAL has decided to leave the band. He had been with DARK FUNERAL since 1995 and had recorded four studio albums, the last being last year’s “Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus.”

Emperor Magus Caligula issued the following statement on the band’s official website:

Lord Ahriman, the primary guitarist and songwriter of the band and also the only founding member remaining in the band, responded with the following statement:

Lord Ahriman's Response

This really is shocking news for all DARK FUNERAL fans. The only positive that can be drawn from this development is that Emperor Magus Caligula’s departure from the band has been amicable and there appears to be no bad blood between the band members (which seems to be a rarity these days). Here’s wishing both Emperor Magus Caligula and DARK FUNERAL all the best for all their future endeavors!

And until the band finds a replacement vocalist, enjoy the video for “My Funeral” taken from “Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus,” that can now safely be declared as the final DARK FUNERAL album with Emperor Magus Caligula.
