LINKIN PARK recently announced the release date for their widely anticipated fourth album “A Thousand Suns” and its lead single “The Catalyst.” The album would be out on September 13 in the UK and September 14 in the US through Warner Bros. Records. The Indian release date is not out yet (as expected) although it is confirmed that the album would be out through Virgin Records India.
The lead single off the album, “The Catalyst” arrives August 2 worldwide on radio, iTunes and also on the band’s MySpace page for streaming. The vocalist/rhythm guitarist for the band Mike Shinoda revealed the cover art for the single on his blog today. LINKIN PARK also finished shooting a video for the song recently which was directed by the band’s DJ Joseph Hahn.
Rick Rubin co-produced the album with the band’s vocalist Mike Shinoda. The duo also shared production duties on LINKIN PARK‘s previous album “Minutes To Midnight,” which has sold 3 million copies in the US, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Rick Rubin who worked with METALLICA on “Death Magnetic” and with SLAYER on “World Painted Blood” is also producing the upcoming albums by KID ROCK and RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS.
After the radically different course that the band adopted on “Minutes To Midnight,” where they all but abandoned their Nu Metal roots in favor of what may roughly be classified as straight-up Alternative Rock, it would be quite interesting to witness the path they choose with their new record. If vocalist Chester Bennington is to be believed fans are in for a surprise, again! The new sound would make it still harder “to classify what LINKIN PARK is,” he said. Surprise or no surprise, here’s hoping the band delivers a kick-ass record that they owe their fans worldwide!
