The album peaked at #59 on the US Billboard Top 200, #16 on the Swedish charts and sold 50,000 copies just six months after its release in the United States. The album also was nominated for a Swedish Grammy Award and its release was followed by the band’s first world tour.

Killswitch Engage have just confirmed via their Facebook and official website that vocalist Howard Jones has departed from the band. Howard Jones had replaced original vocalist Jesse Leach back in 2002 and remains the band’s longest standing vocalist.

The band issued the following statement on their website a couple of hours back:

Although the bands’ first two records with Jesse Leach were successful and thrust the band to the forefront of the metalcore scene in the States, it was with their first album with Howard Jones, 2004′s “The End of Heartache,” that the band made their commercial breakthrough, with the title song being nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Metal Performance” category . “The End of Heartache” along with its follow-up, 2006′s ”As Daylight Dies,” were both certified Gold in the US.

While Howard’s departure would be a painful blow for the legions of Killswitch Engage fans across the globe, let us all look at the brighter side – at least the rest of the guys are still together. This move also paves the way for original vocalist Jesse Leach to rejoin the band, something that I have been personally looking forward to for a long time now. The guys have been on good terms with Jesse ever since his departure. Killswitch Engage mainman Adam D. collaborated with Jesse Leach to create Times of Grace and released their debut record only last year. So, Jesse Leach is, undoubtedly, the #1 contender to regain his job. My second guess would be Phil Labonte from All That Remains. Both Phil & Jesse filled-in for Howard as the vocalists for the band during their tour last year after Howard Jones suffered a back injury.

Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline

Italian Gothic metallers LACUNA COIL have announced the release date for their new album “Dark Adrenaline.” The album will be released via Century Media Records on January 23, 2012 in Europe and a day later in North America. Don Gilmore, who has worked with the likes of PEARL JAM, LINKIN PARK and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, and who handled production duties on their 2009 album “Shallow Life,” returns once again as the album’s producer. While the band’s last collaboration with Don Gilmore resulted in a sound leaning more towards their American Alternative rock/metal influences, the new album has a heavier sound that will please their old-school Gothic metal fans, as revealed by frontwoman Cristina Scabbia in recent interviews.

Regarding the new album, Cristina Scabbia commented, “As some of you know, the release for ‘Dark Adrenaline’ was postponed a bit…and this made me even more nervous because I had to wait even more to spit it out! I am so thrilled I can finally say something about this album – ha! I simply love it. I feel this is the best work we have ever done, and it absolutely captures the essence of who we are. The atmosphere of the record will make a lot of old-school fans very happy, and the newer fans will enjoy the vibrant energy and the dark blood running through the songs. I really believe the ‘Dark Adrenaline’ will wake you up. Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to enjoy the trip!”

Speaking to UK’s TERRORIZER magazine, she added, “I can definitely say that it’s heavier and more obscure. I think that during the songwriting, we go with the flow and do whatever we like, and we realized that what we enjoy the most when we perform is the heaviness and that melancholic feeling of the darker songs. That’s us, and that’s what came out in this album.”

“Dark Adrenaline” track listing:
1. Trip The Darkness
2. Against You
3. Kill the Light
4. Give Me Something More
5. Upsidedown
6. End of Time
7. I Don’t Believe in Tomorrow
8. Intoxicated
9. The Army Inside
10. Losing My Religion
11. Fire
12. My Spirit

The lead single, “Trip The Darkness” will be released digitally on October 17th in Europe and on October 18th in the US. LACUNA COIL will embark on their “Darkness Rising Tour,” headlining dates in the UK this November in support of the new single, while also playing some Italian dates in late October. Keep checking as more shows are added to the tour.

Who would have known that the current #1 Rock hit on the US radio was not even considered worthy of being included on an album! The song “Walk,” which was released as the last track on the new FOO FIGHTERS album “Wasting Light” and also as the album’s second single, was originally written for their last studio album, “Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace,” but was not even included on it!

As revealed by frontman Dave Grohl in recent interviews following the success of the single, he decided to put the final version as the last track of “Wasting Light” because it “sort of makes sense to the album’s theme of time and second chances”, and to “end the record on a positive note.”

Well, Mr. Grohl, it sure is one hell of a positive note! The song dethroned the FOO FIGHTERS lead single “Ropes,” also from “Wasting Light,” on the Billboard Rock Songs chart to reach the top, a very rare feat indeed. The song is also #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart for three consecutive weeks and on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart for two consecutive weeks now.

The music video also won the Best Rock Video award at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
